From Grok's New Eyes to Frankenstein's Brain: The Evolving AI Landscape
His eyes have generally an expression of wildness, and even madness; but there are moments when, if anyone performs an act of kindness towards him or does him any the most trifling service, his whole countenance is lighted up.

“WHAT THE LLM?”
This week
Grok now has vision capabilities (All data you give it is potential training data, which is not necessarily a bad thing.)
Try submitting x-ray, PET, MRI or other medical images to Grok for analysis.
This is still early stage, but it is already quite accurate and will become extremely good.
Let us know where Grok gets it right or needs work.

Claude 3.5 Sonnet gets a major upgrade, reshaping the AI landscape
What's so special about Claude 3.5 Sonnet's update?
Anthropic's latest update to Claude 3.5 Sonnet introduces groundbreaking features, including "computer use" capabilities, enhanced software engineering skills, and improved performance across various benchmarks. The model can now interact with computer interfaces, write and edit code more effectively, and provide better customer support and data analysis. This update highlights the ongoing competition among AI developers to produce more capable models, raising questions about the future of human-AI interaction and the potential for AI to take on increasingly complex tasks.
Why should you care?
This update represents a significant leap in AI capabilities, potentially revolutionizing IT support, software development, customer service, and data analysis. It sets a new standard for AI models and could impact various industries by enabling more efficient and automated workflows. The update demonstrates rapid advancements in AI capabilities, potentially accelerating the integration of AI into various aspects of work and daily life. It also underscores the importance of ethical considerations and safety measures in AI development.
Who is it for?
Everyone can potentially benefit; however, it's generally marketed to software developers, IT professionals, data analysts, customer support teams, and businesses looking to integrate advanced AI capabilities into their operations. Industries relying heavily on software development, data analysis, and customer support may see significant changes in their workflows and job roles. It may also impact education and training programs for tech-related fields.
When can you use it?
The update was released this last week of October 2024, with the computer use feature currently in public beta. Check Anthropic's website for the most up-to-date information on availability and access. The effects of this update could begin to materialize in the short term as early adopters integrate the new capabilities into their operations. Broader industry-wide impacts may become more apparent over the next few years.
Where can you learn more?
Visit Anthropic's official website (www.anthropic.com) for detailed documentation, API access, and usage guidelines for Claude 3.5 Sonnet's new capabilities. Tech companies, software development firms, and customer service-oriented businesses are likely to be early adopters and may show the first signs of how these advanced AI capabilities can transform operations.
CAN WE BUILD OUR OWN SYSTEM FOR “COMPUTER USE”?
While challenging, it's theoretically possible to develop a "computer use" system similar to Claude's using open-source tools and frameworks. This would involve combining computer vision models for screen analysis, natural language processing for understanding commands, and automation scripts for executing actions. However, it would require significant expertise and resources to achieve the level of sophistication seen in Claude's implementation.
The way you prompt matters
You can get impressively refined outputs from Claude by crafting thoughtful prompts. Claude responds well to clear, specific instructions and benefits from context-rich prompts. Experimenting with different prompt structures can significantly enhance the quality and relevance of Claude's responses.
We will be exploring various prompting techniques for Claude in future newsletters, so stay tuned!
